Job Description
Volant Partners, Inc is seeking an Advisory Software QA Engineer to assist our clients with the development and deployment of their products. Responsibilities will vary by client project, but the selected candidate will contribute to areas such as test case design, test planning, testing of systems developed by the customer, test automation and reporting of test results. In addition, responsibilities will include working closely with the development teams throughout the software development lifecycle to define tests for functionalities and performance, as well as responsibility for development of test frameworks.
As subject matter experts, selected candidates will use their depth of software quality assurance knowledge to perform these tasks and introduce best practices into our clients. Successful candidates will be self-starters that are comfortable in new situations where success is dependent on quickly understanding client challenges and addressing them.
This individual must have excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation) and be able to communicate effectively with different engineering disciplines, project and client leadership.
This position is a hybrid of remote and on-site client work so we are only seeking candidates in the greater Seattle area.
Typical Responsibilities
- Test case design
- Test planning and execution
- Testing of systems developed by the customer
- Test automation and reporting of test results
- Championing quality assurance best practices on their project
- Enabling the Development team in producing a quality product
- Lead and mentor more junior engineers
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of various testing techniques and the ability to use them in practice (at least 10+ years of practical experience)
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Intermediate programming experience in one or more of the following languages: Java, C#, C++, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python
- Working experience with writing automated test scripts for test automation
- Experience with defect tracking/management tools such as JIRA.
- Demonstrated experience with industry standard Quality Assurance best practices for Agile and Iterative SDLCs, testing methodologies, implementation, and deployment activities.
- Experience in every-day use of version control system (git)
- Experience in testing in a continuous integration environment: GitLab, Jenkins/TeamCity, Maven
- Basic knowledge of SQL
- Working experience in creating test documentation (Test Plan, test report, basic test metrics)
- Experience in working with requirements
- As a consultant, ability to effectively cooperate with the client and/or end users
- Fluent English in speech and writing (frequent communication with English-speaking clients)
- Must be a US Person - U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in technical course of study preferred
- Experience working in regulated industries such as defense, aerospace, and automotive
- Experience working in a consulting or engineering services company
- Experience with Cloud-native & hybrid projects
- Experience in performance testing using dedicated tools (e.g. Jmeter)
- Experience in performing usability and/or security tests
- Ability to design test strategies for products
The salary range for this position is currently $140,000 to $175,000 based on current market data. Actual compensation will depend on the successful candidates’ work location, qualifications, skills, and depth of experience. As an employee-owned company, the total compensation for this position will include Stock Options and eligibility for the Utilization, VP Accelerator and Profit-Sharing bonus programs. Our comprehensive benefits include 401k matching; medical, dental, vision and prescription drug benefits; flexible spending accounts; life and disability insurance; and a generous company contribution to an HSA account. Employees will also receive 15 days paid vacation and 10 days paid sick leave each year, as well as 12+ paid holidays scheduled throughout the calendar year.
